5 Storyboarding Resources

My team is about to pursue development of multiple eLearning courses and possibly video. During my research I found 5 great resources on storyboarding and script development. Storyboards can serve multiple purposes from eLearning to video based projects. The 5 resources below provide a mix of resources.

  • eLearning Storyboard & Script Writing Full Course by eLearning.net: The eLearning Network – This video provides a great example of a very simple storyboard that provides all information for the project sponsor, instructional designer, narrator, graphics resource, SME, and others. It then proceeds to describe how to write a script.

The Crowd Sourced Syllabus. I like it. previously there were lesson plan sharing sites but this now includes students and possibly participants. The potential for learning for the students either as contributors to the syllabus or recipients of the learning is awesome.

Let the Learning Begin! #ASTD2014

I have made it to the ASTD ICE conference 2014. I am volunteering for two days and will be here for the other two days. I hope to learn a little more about Big Data and Learning Analytics, the Experience API, and more. I am starting to see a connection between these topics and HPI/T.

 

Non-Profit Information related to ASTD Chapters

I shared information with my fellow board members regarding ASTD and IRS Non-Profit information. I thought it would be good to place the links in a blog post so that I can easily share the information with others. Paul Signorelli has had an excellent session at the ASTD ALC each year and if I can find the link to his site, I will update the post with a link to his information.

  • Our organization can sell memberships and professional development, according to our charter, and this income incurs no taxes. The one area that was always questionable to me was, can we sell books that relate to the topics we are teaching. Our previous accountant always said no. It would be good to get a final answer on this. If we sell books one thing that we must do is collect sales taxes, this is outside of incurring taxable income. Anything that we sell that is taxable income is covered under the  IRS – Unrelated Business Income Defined –  http://www.irs.gov/charities/article/0,,id=96104,00.html

  • We fall under a group exemption for ASTD so you will not see our name on the form and you must state this to whomever you need to supply the information to.
The goal is to:
  • keep good financial records, 
  • keep good sponsorship records (invoices that show the value of all promised items), 
  • avoid any inurement or personal financial benefit to any of us insiders
  • file all necessary federal, state or local filings
  • comply with all federal and state laws
  • maintain our tax exempt status! 🙂
In my opinion, a great resource for all board members, not just the VP of Finance is the ASTD Chapter Finance Toolkit. It covers non-profit finance, IRS topics, liability insurance and a lot more in a broad view with a smattering of specifics. Additionally, if I can find Paul’s resources I will place it below.

ASTD TechKnowledge’s Conference App Is Cool | Workplace Learning Today- Brandon Hall Research

I have been casually looking at how mobile applications are being used by learning organizations. In this post ASTD TechKnowledge’s Conference App is Cool on the Workplace Learning Today blog by Brandon Hall Research today.

I downloaded the app on my Android and it has these sections:

  • Search – In application search.
  • Schedule – The conference schedule in a calendar.
  • Program – The program listed by category and then title with time.
  • Speakers – A list of all of the speakers, their bio, and some include website and emails. Additionally, you can add notes for that speaker and tag them as favorites.
  • Expo – A list of all of the expo participants.
  • Media – PowerPoints for the presentations.
  • Maps – A map of the convention hall.
  • Twitter – a Twitter feed for #tk11.

It is a very good app and is giving me a few ideas!
